Jacob's Guest Blog
I am Jacob, and I am the (mostly) silent partner in this Szakos on the Road sabbatical. Kristin is taking a break from writing, so I offered to fill in. Because dogs aren't that big on words, my blog will be mostly pictures. I hope you enjoy it.
After the indignity of being baggage (carry-on, at least) this trip has been a great adventure. We do all my favorite things - ride in the car, hang out with the family, meet new people and dogs, take long walks and explore new sights and smells.

When Kristin first asked the camper rental company in Germany if dogs were allowed in their campers, they wrote back (in what was clearly not their first language) that it would be fine for the dog to drive the camper! I'm glad that I will be able to help if needed. I did practice once, but haven't really driven yet.
I am a good navigator and map-reader, though.

Hanging out in the camper with Joe – another one of my favorite things!

In the Alps
In the mountains of Austria and Switzerland, we saw dairy cows with big bells hung from their necks, chased snowballs, waded in and drank melted snow from the mountains, and walked beside fast-flowing rivers full of melted snow.
Other places we've been

In Slovakia, I hung out with Marley and his fast black cat, Milo, and met sheep. The sheep wanted to be friends (unlike Milo).
Easter in Grenolliers, Spain.
_____
Town and country in Caesares, Spain.
You can't see it, but there is a rabbit in the picture on the left.
On the beach in Portugal (above)
With Joe in Sintra, Portugal (below). There is a cat down there.
On my first boat ride, in Cap d'Agde, France, and my second, in Venice (boats are how people ride the bus there). In Italy, dogs are allowed on the buses if they wear a muzzle. You can see mine there, around my neck. That's how Italian dogs wear them on the bus.
On the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos, Portugal
On the ancient city wall in Agde, France
Exploring the narrow streets of Béziers, France
In Banska-Bystrica, Slovakia, with our friend Chuck,
and in Brescia, Italy, with our friend LeeAnn.
Oggau am Neusiedler See, in Austria, is very flat. There were lots of rabbits in the fields.
I enjoyed walking along the canals in Venice.
There are dogs everywhere in Venice, and they stopped to talk to us.
Milan, Italy, is the fashion capital of the world.
I think I did a pretty good job fitting in there with my blue silk scarf.
That's all for now. We are currently camping in Peynier, France, in the hills near Aix-en-Provence. In my next guest blog, I will report on our newest acquisition -
a black bicycle with a homemade dog basket on the back.
We are waiting to camp in a flatter place before we try it.
